AAA replica Breitling Top Time watches have long been are unique outlier in the Swiss brand’s line-up. A chronograph model with a square (ish) cushion case launched in 1964, it aimed to attract a new crop of younger consumers with its hipster design. The Top Time soon made it onto the wrist of no less an icon than James Bond in the 1965 film adaptation of Ian Fleming’s Thunderball, which saw Sean Connery’s 007 sport the watch while driving an elegant and refined British sports car, the Aston Martin DB5.
The rest, as they say, is history. The U.K.-built Aston became synonymous with the U.K. secret agent. The Top Time? Not so much. While it thrived as a model line for Breitling, Bond moved on to a series of other watch brands in subsequent installments of the film series, from Rolex to Seiko, and these days, Omega, via a longstanding product placement deal.
Now Breitling, following the successful launch last year of the limited edition Top Time B01 ‘Racing’ Series in 38mm, and the deal this year to hook up with Aston Martin as a sponsor of its F1 team and other motoring endeavors, is giving us its tribute to the DB5 in three limited edition models that aim to capture the refined elegance and power of the grand touring car on the wrist.
The new buy fake Breitling Top Time Chronograph B01 Tribute To Aston Martin DB5 watches case measures 41 millimeters by 47.9 millimeters and13.8 millimeters thick. The dial of each limited-edition model features a wood inlay rehaut, meant to evoke the wooden steering wheel and interior elements of the classic car that debuted in 1963.
There are three case versions and dials. At the top end of this Top Time release is the 250-piece LE18-karat ‘red gold’ version that maxes out the luxury elements of the DB5 from which it draws inspiration. In addition to the gold case, the watch features a hand-cut black onyx dial that marks the first time Breitling has used the dark stone for a dial, it says.
The gold version features the unique wooden inlay rehaut with Super-LumiNova-filled gold hands, indexes, and gold subdial outlines on the 30-minute and seconds counters. The fixed gold bezel features an exterior tachymeter scale – of course. The automatic COSC-certified B01 movement, featuring a column-wheel, vertical clutch chronograph, and gold rotor. Despite a non-screw-down crown and mushroom pushers, the best copy watches offers 100 meters of water resistance thanks to two crown gaskets. Delivered on a brown calfskin strap with a gold folding clasp buckle, the red gold version is priced at $41,500.
Next up is a steel case version with a platinum fixed bezel and black lacquered dial. Limited to 315 pieces, the more subdued steel and platinum version features a gold winding rotor and the same power reserve of 70 hours across each of the models. With the wood rehaut scale noting the Aston Martin DB5 at top right, the steel and platinum version is priced at $18,600 and comes on the same brown calfskin leather strap with a folding buckle.
At the entry-level for the series is a stainless steel case version, featuring a silver, sunray brushed dial with black subdials and the same wood inlay rehaut. Featuring matching measurements and case design as the other models, the movement uses a rhodium-plated rotor in lieu of the gold on the more premium versions. Limited to 1,002 pieces, the stainless steel version is priced at $11,400 and is meant to come closest to recapturing the original ref. 2002 model that Connery wore in Thunderball.
What We Think
These pieces mark a worthy return for the perfect clone Breitling Top Time B01 watches, with a step-up in size and price compared to the 38mm-sized ‘Racing’ models that charmed us last year. Those cost about $7,700 when they debuted in 2025.
The DB5 top fake watches feature upgrades in dial work, case size, and materials, with the platinum bezel and full-gold models. With the prompt to pay tribute to the classic DB5, they lean more towards a luxury tourer than a race track. We almost always prefer a smaller case size, and the ‘Racing’ models in 38mm hit a nice sweet spot. Upsized to 41mm, the DB5 versions are likely to appeal to a wider, more commercial audience, and that’s certainly the intention for Breitling as it looks to capitalize on the Aston Martin partnership deal. We cheer the decision to continue forgoing a date function that gives the dial a simple, refined, and functional layout.
